Hexagonal Nut for Oil&Gas Industry

In the petrochemical and Oil & Gas industries, fasteners must meet stringent requirements to ensure safety and reliability under extreme operating conditions. High pressures, critical temperatures and corrosive environments are the order of the day. This makes it essential to use materials and manufacturing processes that ensure strength and precision.

Our custom design: turned hexagonal nut fine pitch ASTM A194 GR7

We have recently produced a turned nut with 3″ UNF fine pitch thread in ASTM A194 GR7 alloy steel, designed for the petrochemical industry. This component is designed for critical applications, such as:

• High-pressure pipelines;
• Pressure valves;
• Heat exchangers;
• Flanges and other special applications.

While meeting standard regulations, this nut is distinguished by its special dimensions and customer-requested machining, demonstrating our ability to provide highly customized specialty bolting solutions.

Production process and quality control

In this case, tests were carried out on both the raw material, the steel bar, and the finished product.

Ultrasonic testing was conducted on the steel bar to exclude the presence of issues.

The applied processing is turning. Once production was completed, the nut underwent a series of rigorous tests:

• Hardness test to check the strength of the material;
• Test load testing to ensure the ability to withstand mechanical stresses.

Magnetic and/or liquid penetrant tests can also be performed on the finished product upon request, which are useful for ruling out the presence of cracks and thus non-integrity of parts.
