EFS – European Fasteners Solutions is featured on the magazine of Expo Valve with a new technical article focused on Duplex and Super Duplex fasteners, a material solution that is increasingly strategic for Oil & Gas, onshore/offshore and energy applications.
The article, titled “Duplex vs Super Duplex Fasteners: Selection Criteria Based on Real Applications”, is based on EFS’s direct, hands-on experience with real supplies developed for high-performance industrial environments. Rather than offering a purely theoretical comparison, the contribution shares practical selection criteria derived from field experience, in operating conditions characterized by high pressures, corrosive environments, continuous duty cycles and stringent technical specifications.
The article published on Expo Valve highlights how the choice of material is not driven by economic considerations, but by performance requirements, long-term durability and plant safety. Duplex stainless steels, thanks to their austenitic–ferritic microstructure, are presented as a proven solution for many industrial applications, offering a balanced combination of mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-containing environments.
Super Duplex stainless steels represent the natural evolution of this material family. Their higher alloy content—especially chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen—allows them to achieve higher mechanical strength and superior resistance to localized corrosion, making them particularly suitable for high-pressure valves and critical components where additional safety margins and consistent performance over time are required.
The EFS article on Expo Valve also draws attention to increasingly crucial aspects of Super Duplex and Duplex fasteners, such as marking, traceability and certification. These elements are now essential to ensure full supply chain control and compliance in critical applications
