EFS – European Fasteners Solutions has been featured in the latest issue of Fasten.it with a technical article dedicated to a case study on bolts and studs made of Inconel 718 for the nuclear sector.
The article describes a testing campaign carried out in collaboration with Sigma Tre Lab, accredited UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, on special components designed for next-generation modular reactors (SMR).
The goal of the project was to verify the regulatory compliance and mechanical strength of fasteners made from Inconel 718, a nickel-chromium superalloy that ensures outstanding performance under extreme conditions:
- resistance to fatigue and creep
- stability up to 700 °C
- excellent corrosion resistance.
The testing campaign included:
- dimensional and metrological checks
- hardness and impact tests
- microstructural and compositional analyses
- non-destructive testing with liquid penetrants.
These processes validate every production batch, ensuring complete traceability and compliance with NACE, ASTM, EN and ISO standards.
The testing phases were documented through photos and videos. Particularly interesting is the liquid penetrant inspection, which makes it possible to detect any surface cracks.
In the video at the ,bottom, you can see the preparation and execution of the test, carried out in collaboration with SIGMATRE LAB, along with the results obtained.
Being featured on Fasten.it with this Inconel 718 case study represents an important acknowledgment of EFS’s commitment to high-performance materials and the continuous improvement of ISO 9001-certified quality.
